ACEOs & Onions
Today I finished up some ACEOs that I've been working on for a while and got most of them listed in my ArtFire studio and Zibbet shop. I still have a few more to get to, but one thing at a time.
I got a flat of onion seeds started, which feels so good. I'm anxious to start more seeds, but it's still early, so patience will be my companion while I dream of spring and nurse my "Bianca di Maggio" and "Yellow Parma" babies.
As for now, I have dinner to think about and then some hookin' to enjoy!
Peace.

Art as Medicine
Today I made a little art … me with my paints, mediums and Nature, and The Boy with his pens. It was good Medicine to soothe my soul as I watched the Giants loose so badly. These "peaces" aren't done yet, but tomorrow I'll likely make some time to complete the final embellishments … in between everything else I have on tomorrow's list!
That's what I made today.
Peace.

A Comeback
Ah, yes. I have been remiss in my blogging of late. I injured a toe and I don't do injuries as well as I used to, staying put and all. So I took a break from routine and did my best to heal and recover. During that time I prepped a number of mini journals and today I started the final stages of adding the little blessings of Nature to them. These are all still wet and will change in appearance as the medium dries.
I also worked on some ACEOs that I will be trading with some of my Passion for Painting Guild friends.
Healing is process, just like any creation. For me, to heal well, to heal whole, I must ...
That's what I made today. Peace.

An Artful Reproduction

I've been so darned busy this past week and I see no end in sight. Well, I do, but not until we get much closer to winter. I'm not complaining. I actually enjoy being busy, and it makes downtime that much sweeter and luxuriant. Among the many things I've made over the past few days, I resurrected the image of an old favored Artist Trading Card by having lovely giclee reproductions made on nice watercolor paper. Needless to say it's called "overjoyed" and I'll be overjoyed when I make some of that downtime!
You can find these prints and other handmade goodies at my ArtFire Studio and at my Zibbet Studio. Peace.

Intention in Progress
The Boy was home today and after we tended to our morning matters we gathered at the table with paints and such to create. Sharing time like this is very sweet to me. I spoke to my friend who was in that auto accident the other day and she is doing well. I plan to visit her soon and to bring along some simmering pot of healing verve ... and a little creative expression of my intentions for her. I suspect that at least one of these works-in-progress may well fit the bill.
That's what I made today.
Peace.

Space for New Blossoms
Every three-to-five years I have what I can only call a business gather, and so it was this past Monday. I was blessed to share several hours with some wonderful friends who have played various roles within my “professional” life over the years, each one of them a healing peer. The time that we shared yielded over three pages of brainstorming ideas that may be applied to my business strategies and plans over the coming years. I’m still mulling over the list to sort, prioritize and add definition.
This is one of those activities that reminds me of the gratitude I still hold for the fifteen years suffered in the corporate world.
Three-plus pages of ideas can be daunting. Yet one thing I’ve learned about such an overwhelming result is …
To choose one thing and act on it. Best that it be something small, a well-defined baby step, something to execute quickly.
This creates momentum.
Momentum for the next baby step. And before you know it you’re acting on a good idea each and every day. And before you know it life's new little blossoms are blooming in ways you never imagined.
Peace.

Things
I have been enjoying hibernation - in my own way - and taking a break from daily posts have been a part of that. After all, I've been blogging pretty darn steady since December 29, 2004. So I deserve a break from time to time, don't you think?
Nevertheless, I've been busy making things. In these past five days have:
- Taught myself Tunisian crochet
- Cooked, served and ate a beef heart (local and pasture-fed) for a first time experience
- Played with inks and some very vibrant colors, another new experience
- Completed several journal pages
- Started painting some of the summer-made jewelry
- Put some plans into action
- Updated some stuff for our May Forest Folk camping event
- Browsed through art books for ideas and inspiration
- Shared time with my heathen friends for our monthly discussion group
- Put away much of the holiday decorations, leaving out some seasonal color and light
- Managed paperwork, some tax prep, laundry, cooking and other assorted housekeeping tasks
- Sipped coffee, tea and tonight (this week's "Friday" night) cocktails
So even though I've been quiet here, I've making ... all sorts of things!
Peace.

Tracks of Gratitude
I'll be traveling over this Thanksgiving holiday, so it is that today I point myself westward and make tracks along the highways and byways. Blogging will not be on my agenda until I return. I will miss you and I truly hope that you have much to be grateful for in your life - today, tomorrow, and every day.
I thought I'd leave you with a few images to gaze upon, ponder and - hopefully - inspire.
Be well. Be grateful. Be joyous. Peace. Ashe. Ashe.

Peaceful Creations
Every November I revisit my relationship with Peace. Through writing and other artful expressions I explore its meaning as it relates to my life and the choices that make. I reflect on my own peaceful actions and choices as well as of those I share this life with. I ponder the ways that I might enhance its presence in my world and in the lives of others.
One thing seems certain, peace is born deep in the flames of the hearths of our hearts. If we don't nurture it there, we will not find, tend or create it elsewhere.
That's what I made today.

Acts of Love
Yesterday and today I worked on some new little pieces of art and love. I enjoy the process of creating these Impressions of Nature so much - from wandering the wild places and collecting the trimmings and pressing them, to choosing the leaves and words that belong together, to mixing the colors and mediums, to working them into the layers of love that they will become.
That's what I made today.

A Completed Resurrection
All my little 2008 watercolor ACEOs have been resurrected and are available for sale at my ArtFire Studio. This resurrection came on the tail of a request for their return and I am delighted that, as a result, the watercolors have made their way back to my work table!
These little paintings are made through a meditative method where my core focus hones in on the pure, organic creative process. I give the color palette some conscious consideration, but paint with no image in mind. The shapes and colors are allowed to make manifest on their own terms, not mine, and so emerge from a deep, peaceful and healing place within. It is a remarkably freeing technique and I love it!
I hope that you appreciate these little outcomes as much as I do the experience of being a vessel of their manifestation.
Peace.

Art & Lists
I finished, photographed and listed these four new "Impressions of Nature" ACEOs. I love the subtle boldness of these. These sturdy little works are done on masonite and there are more in the works, on watercolor paper as well as masonite. These little artworks are such a joy to create, and pulling out last autumn's pressed leaves and flowers simply magnifies the joy and the expression, intention and love that flows in the process.
On a dull note, after other failed fix-attempts, I reinstalled my MS Office and it fixed some of the issues that magically appeared of late. The only reason I ever purchased this (fill in expletive here) software is because it is such a universal standard. Why, I'm still at a loss for understanding. C'est la vie, eh?
This morning, as I often do, I pulled a card. This one was "Oneness" and my smile was as broad as the scope of understanding that surfaced from within. It pleased me, despite the challenges that wafted in on that understanding. I pulled out my Master List (I love my Master List) and added to it, then commenced a review to seek the "Oneness" patterns. The effort quickly overwhelmed me, so I set it aside - to macerate - and will continue that pleasing challenge in the coming quiet days. I am looking forward to this.
That's what I made today.

... And the Day Before And ...
What I've been making ... well, the infused calendula oil is making nice progress. I plan to make another batch of soap with - at least - some portion of it, for it is delightful! The gardens should dry up enough to harvest more flowers this afternoon.

I've also been infusing vinegars. I have several in the works, more to get started and jars of various varieties lining up nicely on the shelves.
I fermented some red beans and cooked them up yesterday with organic bay leaf, peppercorn and astragalus root and made a delectable batch of red beans and rice for supper last night.
I've been working on more of my latest "Impressions of Nature" ACEOs, playing with layers of Nature, words and paints. You can see more works in progress on Facebook if you like.
I've mentioned the chipmunks that have taken residence in my gardens and while they are cute they torment my Halley and can be a nuisance. So I made a little magic and called on the spirit of Fox and Hawk - whoever was available - to share a mutual benefit from the natural spirals of life. Well, it's a crappy photo taken through screen and window, but Hawk showed up, on the high post in a central spot in my vegetable garden. Dig it.

Nose to Toe Love
Today I kissed my dog on her booboo nose. But I do that every day. But remember? The chicken coop nose injury? It's healing nicely. It was toenail clipping day and her one little curly nail got over-clipped, only a little, but she was overstimulating it with her medicine tongue so a little extra love was needed.

Wanderings
Today I wandered the woods and meadows with the dogs. Again. You see, I'm dog-n-chicken-sitting in the deeper - and higher - hills of my region. I don't have my usual connections for photos, so you'll just have to wait 'til I get back home for images.
When I first got here, I went to check on the chickens and Halley joined me. When she spotted them she set forth full-speed ahead, unaware of the wire fence and ::KaDaBoom!:: head first into the fence. She shook it off and ran around their run, only to discover one that had liberated herself. Thankfully, the soft-mouth of her half-lab kicked in as she attempted to retrieve. When I shouted "Drop!" she did and I was able to pick up the "liberated chick" and deposit her safely back into the run with her sisters. In any event, my mind keeps playing back Halley bounding into the fence and I just keep chuckling, wondering - as another has suggested - that her eyesight may be off a bit. Her sweet nose was scraped and it did swell that first night, but all is back to normal now and she's not quite as excitable around the hens. Thank the gods.
Today I wandered the meadows here on this hilltop with Halley, Dakota and Bear. We left the camera behind and simply gathered samplings of nature to press in the early pages of my Book of Mirrors. These will be used for ACEO and other artwork.
After the meadow hike we all wandered down the path into the woods to the pond, where we all cooled off a bit. On our way there I spotted several blooming plants at the woods edge and asked, "scullcap?" The plant said "no." On the way back, the plant taunted me as one that I "should" know. I was drawn to one and said aloud, "Not scullcap, eh?" and as I bent to take a closer look I asked, "then what?" and in a flash the plant responded and I knew ... lobelia inflata. I plucked a piece that the planted offered me and nibbled a flower and a few warm, peppery leaves and assured myself that if it is indeed lobelia, I would know by the time I returned to the house. And I did. For the plant voices were chattering all around me! I also looked it up. It was so good to experience this amazing plant ally again, for it doesn't grow on or around my little acre.
For supper I made an egg yoke sauce with garlic and fresh sweet basil, you know, like a Hollandaise-type-o-deal and poured it over some cooked orzo that was mixed with corn. When suppertime came. I popped it into the oven to heat through and then under the broiler to brown the top. This, served with a marinated four-squash salad and a cucumber salad and the rest of Gayle's melissa mead, made for a rich and delicious meal.
That's what I made today.

Completions, Connections, Decisions
I still have loose ends hanging, but today I made some "good" things happen. I made a couple of decisions, made a couple friends, and have some new seeds planted in my garden of life. More on that another day. I don't want to bore you ... too much.
Remember those frames I was working on? Well, I completed a few. This one is re-fashioned from a damaged antique frame. I left it pretty rustic, and only painted gold to the high-points. I put one of my favored collage ACEOs in it and it now hangs on my living room wall.

This & That
The boy had made more frames from scrap stock and broken frames salvaged from the dump, so I continued the finishing. I'm finishing some up new-like and others I'm leaving distressed. I like distressed.
Then there's the bread dough ... rising.
And now I sip some warming tea that's just perfect for this chill, damp day. You can see it here.
Tomorrow I should have some art journal fun to share. Emphasis on should.

The Most of the First Snow
A late morning complete with coffee in bed. A nice walk with the dog in the falling snow. One of my Cheryl-neighbors (I have two) threw open her sash to holler out "Good morning!" Greetings were called back as the walk continued in the swirling flakes. A return to a warm little hut to work on the frames I had picked up at Goodwill, as well as the wee one's that the boy is making for me to finish.
A day of the football irony (I'm a Giant's fan). A nice dinner with Maple Ale. A very nice evening.

Treasures
I made treasures today. The re-melting of the crumbly soap with a touch of added water worked out nicely ... I impatiently cut them today and I'm pleased with the outcome and the lessons learned.
I finished three new ACEO pieces and listed them in my Etsy shop ...
So many treasures! And speaking of treasures, I also snagged a Treasury for my Etsy PeaceNiKs Team. Check it out and leave us some love!
Ashe. Ashe.
