Win a Nature Inspired Mini Journal in the Great Online Scavenger Hunt!

It's Day 20 of  Annie Kelleher's Great Online Scavenger Hunt and you have another chance to win one of my creations. This time, a mixed media, Nature inspired mini journal

If you're following Annie's Hunt, you know you have to hunt for "clues," in the form of a line or quote from The Ghost and Katie Coyle. These "clues" are hiding in various sites, and you can easily find them on Annie's site

Today's "clue," #20, is from chapter 20 of The Ghost and Katie Coyle and you'll discover it in my collection of Journals and Notebooks. Should be pretty easy to find. Go look!

When you find that quote/"clue", copy it, and email it to KatieCoyleScavengerHunt@gmail.com and you'll be entered in the drawing to win one of my mini journals at the close of The Hunt!

And … if you discover every "clue" you'll be eligible for the final drawing to win a Kindle Paperwhite eReader!

But for this moment, go check out those Journals , and when you find the clue, email it to KatieCoyleScavengerHunt@gmail.com, and you'll be entered in the drawing to win your very own Nature inspired mini journal!

While you're hunting you'll also discover Clue #2 here ~ and be eligible to win a handmade Spirit Pouch,

Happy hunting!

A Whimsy Winner

Join me in congratulating "number 7," Catherine of Shadow Dog Designs! She is the winner of our February Win a Whimsy mermaid!

I've never met Catherine, but I've known her quite a while here in this virtual online space that we share. She is a wonderful, supportive and talented member of the ArtFire community. She creates beautiful, inspired, handmade jewelry like this recent dog rescue necklace:

This is just one of many wonderful jewelry pieces that she creates, and I chose to showcase it because it resonated for me ... because my rescue dog did - indeed - adopt me!

I'm delighted that she is our winner! And if you don't already know her, you can get to know her at the links above as well as follow her on her Shadow Dog Designs Facebook page and on twitter

Congratulation, Catherine!

Peace.

A Return

I woke up in my own bed this morning after a week away. It felt good, yet somehow I woke ripe with frustration and seething with more than a little anger. I got up, banged some stuff around while I fixed my tea. I journaled, finished unpacking and reorganizing, plowed through email, and started spinning some new Spirit Cords. All of these things proved to be good Medicine, especially the spinning. When the rain finally came, I went outside, despite the chill, and stood rooted in it to receive a blessed cleansing. While I was out there I picked a few onions and herbs to use with this evening's dinner. I still have messages and calls to return, laundry to do and other tasks to catch up on, but I'm almost home now.

I returned home to gorgeous clouds, circling birds of prey, the song of crow, baskets of tomatoes, a waning moon and a journal giveaway at Herbal Roots Zine. Be sure to drop by and leave a comment to enter to win my autumn inspired mini journal called, Goldenrod.

So, despite the rocky start to my day, I'm feeling more settled, centered, grounded … returned. Peace.

Win a Whimsy!

Last week at a small gathering my friend Annie shed some old jewelry as part of her Fifty Different Things hunt. Those of us in attendance nabbed a piece of two. For instance, I now have a lovely amber ring as a result. I kept what was left to find it all a home. The beaded pieces are heading west to a jewelry maker to undo and refashion. I looked again and saw some small pendants that begged to be spun with floss to become bookmarks. After all, I needed a few more markers for some journals.

So I made a few extra with some of Annie's castoffs as well as some of my smaller pendants.
So this coming week, I'm passing along the giving spirit that ignited this spinning frenzy and am hosting a Win a Whimsy giveaway! And I figured I 'd start and end it on a Wednesday in honor of my old weekly giveaway.

So here's my plan ~ Next Wednesday I'll randomly select three winners - one for each of these three little spirit cord bookmarks ...
So ... How to enter Win a Whimsy ...

It's easy! Just leave a comment - any comment at all - to this post for an entry to win. Make sure it's attached to your contact info/email so I can reach you if you win.

Now if you want to earn extra entries - one for each day of the week - and only if you want to, leave a separate comment for each day you Tweet this message: RT *Win a Whimsy* from @walkinthewoods1 at http://whatrosemadetoday.blogspot.com then leave a comment here for each of your Tweets to secure that extra entry.

The winner will be randomly selected and announced next Wednesday, March 17, sometime around 9 a.m., eastern time. Best Wishes and thanks for playing!

My Farewells to September

October eve was cloudy, crisp and breezy, and I celebrated by making a little order from the assorted chaos of my world, by digging and roasting dandelion roots, by grilling steak and sweet potatoes for supper and getting my October Netflix queue in order for the assorted classic, campy and creepy movies that I reserve for the month of my birth. The Boy and I enjoyed our supper while watching a preview ... George Romero's 1968 horror classic, Night of the Living Dead. An awesome kick-off to an awesome month!

And hey, be sure to check out Mrs. B's Confession of a Pagan Soccer Mom every day in October because you won't want to miss a single day of Mrs. B's 31 days of Halloween! An entire month of contests, crafts, recipes and more - don't miss a single day! Besides, you never now when my item will come up in the give-aways. ;)

And hey-hey, join more October fun ~ Join the Domestic Witch: October Blog Party!

I love October!

A Decision to Play & PIF

I am playing along in a Craft Giveaway with my friend, the Wicked Step Mom and I invite you to join us.

The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me, especially for you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
  • I make no guarantees that you will like what I make but I hope you will.
  • What I create will be just for you.
  • They say I have a year to get it to you. But I promise it will NOT take that long!
  • You have no clue what it's going to be. It’s a surprise to both of us at this point.

The catch? You must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 5 people who do the same on your blog.

Well ... what are you waiting for?

Who Won a Whimsy?

I want to thank every single one of you who left a comment - or several. We had 127 eligible Whimsical entries and this morning number 28 was selected by the Random Number Generator. I like the way both numbers add up. I notice silly things like that. Anyway ...

I'd like to ask you all to give a great big congratulations to Shelly of Rose Garden Fibers, for today she crowned number 28 and our very own Win a Whimsey Winner!

Congratulations Shelly!!!

Again - you get the idea!

The winner will be drawn and announced next Thursday morning, July 23!

The Most of It

The day opened with the pulling of this card ... and I made the most of it!
Yesterday I received a most amazing package from Gianna of True Blue Beads ... this "lively lizard" prayer chaplet. I just love it and it came packaged with such loving intention that my heart just sang! I mean, sage and cedar in the little organza pouch was such a special and meaningful touch! Not to mention the extras!
And yesterday I also received this darling necklace from Zombukis Love You that I won in a blog give-away at Unwed Human Female. So cute and ripe for the season!
I called my elderly mom and some 70+ minutes later, when the brain fog lifted from my being, I made labels for my Blueberry Love Wine.
Now I prepare to make something for supper ... I wonder what it will be?

and so the winner is ...

Congratulations Cora!!! You'll be receiving both the red and pink Spirited Book Markers. Yay!!!

So everyone - thanks a bunch for playing - now go leave Cora some love and maybe a book recommendation or two! Peace.

Acts of Spirit

I was in a very good, zen-like zone for most of the day today. I managed some practical matters as if they were sacred works - and they are. I continued to make progress in my dispensary, slight though it was. I separated and sorted and measured cotton floss so that I might spin some new cords. I made several page-savers and one spirit cord. As soon as I have a day with natural light that I can work with, I'll be taking photos and listing these in my Etsy Shop
I made progress on the shrine/altar I'm making for my Suzi Blu class. My goddess figures got sanded and are now ready for priming.  I laid a second layer on that art journal page from yesterday and will apply at least one more layer before this day ends.
I completed the whole package for my Aunt Mary's Sweet Geranium Spray, got a bottle in the mail to my mom and the listing up on my Etsy Shop
Lastly, allow me to remind you, just in case you're looking for it, that my blog give-away, Win a Whimsy Wednesday, is no longer a weekly event. I will still be hosting a give-away, and it will still be on a Wednesday, but it will be monthly ... on a random Wednesday of my choice. So - at least - check in on Wednesdays ... just in case!

Have a beautiful evening!

Win a Whimsy Wednesday

For someone who was up-n-at-em before 3AM, it sure took me a long time to post this week's give-away! I was waiting for good photo daylight, and with heavy cloud cover, and snow falling now, it's as bright as it's gonna get and these photos will have to do.

This week's whimsy is a book cord, a spirit cord for marking pages in a book, spun in a sacred manner, this time with PEACE in my heart. I've been using these cords for years to mark pages, especially in my Book of Mirrors (journal, if you prefer) and my Book of Shadows (my book of spirit, rite and ritual).

This cord is strung with a little green faerie of peace.

To enter this week's give-away, leave a comment to this post ... any comment really, yet I'd love to hear what plans of Peace you have for "next year."

(And Win a Whimsy will become a monthly give-away.)

Have a safe and happy flip of the calendar!

☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Congratulations Autumn Knitter - you won
the Peace Faerie!

Thanks to you all for sharing your beautiful and playful
selves with all of us here ...

as for your inspirations of peace ... just dream it, do it
and make it manifest!

Blessings to you today and every day!

Win a Whimsy Wednesday

Over the next three weeks I will be concluding my weekly give-away. No worries, I'll continue Win a Whimsy, but on a monthly schedule, rather than weekly. More on that in 2009.

With the winter holidays culminating and a new calender year swiftly approaching ... with the daylight waxing and the moonlight waning ... and waxing again before the calendar flips ... I'm giving away PEACE. Energetically, this feels good and right.

One little ACEO print each week ... This week, Restoration ... next week, on Peace Day, (or New Year's Eve, if you prefer) Renewal ... followed by Regeneration on January 7, 2009.

So today, leave a comment ... on PEACE - what it means to you in this moment and you'll be entered to win this week's whimsy, Restoration.

Congratulations Tammie Lee! For those of you who don't know this beautiful spirit and very talented photographer, please check out her blog, Spirithelpers and the her shop by the same name (especially if you need beautiful note cards for your "thank yous!").

Peace.
