Win a Whimsy Wednesday!

Here in my little patch of the northern hemisphere summer is decidedly waning. The days warm up nicely and still feel quite summerish, yet - without doubt or question - autumn breaks a leg between dusk and dawn. The days of bread-baking, stock-simmering are upon me now ... days of Orion skies and hot tea in proper tea cups.

So today, in exchange for sharing a simple thought on the shifting seasons, I offer you a chance to win a little sample bag of the Ceylon Love Tea that I mentioned in yesterday's post.

You know the drill ... just leave a comment here and you're instantly entered in this week's Win a Whimsy! I will draw the winner tomorrow morning.

Congratulations Terri  of Originals by Terri! You won this week's Whimsy!

As always - thanks to everyone for playing!

Time in my Dispensary

The rain kept me indoors today. Mostly. I did get more squash picked, prepped and packed for the freezer early in the day before the rain took over, but the majority of the day was spent in my dispensary.

I accomplished a bit, but there is more still to tidy, organize, clean and inventory. There is so much in such a small space that it can feel quite chaotic with even the slightest of clutter! In any event, I did make a small batch of my simple love tea - just a nice organic Ceylon with lovely organic pink rose buds.

Love with the Day

It was a busy day and I didn't get all done that I wanted. Even so, I made time this morning to wander my little acre and to listen When Weeds Whisper. I made a moment to catch my sweet and ridiculous Halley catching rays of morning love on the table. Apparently she fancies herself a little kitty cat. She hopped right down when she noticed me collecting the photographic evidence.
I made basil pesto with pignolis and plenty of garden garlic for the freezer.
I harvested some beautiful Asian long beans (and some green ones too) ...
... and made more pickled beans.

There's banana bread still to make manifest ... after dinner. That's what I made today.

A Declaration

Favorites . . . I don’t do favorites. I really don’t. I've declared this before and I'm doing it again.
To me, life is far too dynamic to invest any energy in the idea of a favorite. I admit to using the word on occasion, in its plural form, like during a weedwalk I might say, “this plant is one of my favorites.” Of course, I very often hear a response from someone that goes something like this, “Rose, you say that about all the plants.”
There you have it.
So when the Etsy Bloggers Street Team asked its members to write about a favorite color and how we use it … all I could conjure was a rainbow, a dynamic entity in and of itself. As I sat with the idea of the ever-shifting, evolving, eternally changing rainbow that sneaks in and out of our worlds . . . I recalled (among other things) my giant bag of cotton floss and the beautiful cords that I spin with that rainbow of color choices . . . I considered my jar of markers, tubes of acrylic and watercolor paints . . . my gardens, pantry, apothecary . . . and I chuckled.
And I thought to myself . . . yep! That’s one of my favorite things about life – the infinite rainbow of choices that we have every single day (every moment!) if we only choose to see them, acknowledge them and act on them.

A Little Fun with Color

I made time to label my garden-love canned goods and stack the pantry shelves. I'm impressed at how much is shelved already and I gotta say that I paused in a pregnant moment wonderment at what dreamtime help might be assisting me.

Anyway, while the marker jar was out and the pen was in my hand I made a little fun with color. A little fire and water . . .
. . . a little earth and air . . .
. . . and a little muddy paw.

That's what I made today.

So Far . . .

Today I start by making a recovery. You see, yesterday I labored in garden and kitchen and put up several cans of various preserves. I love-love-love this! The down side is that I foolishly averted my attention for a flash of a moment and splashed some boiling water on my face. ::many colorful expletives inserted here::
But not before I got to enjoy my little bean-eating canine in action!
I lingered with ice, fresh-frozen aloe and St. Joan's wort tincture as my allies late into the night. I fell asleep with green aloe adhered to my skin. I wake this morning with only pink hints and the slightest lingering soreness at my nose and upper lip. I love my green friends!

~~~~~
And while I have your attention . . .
I'd like to make an announcement. I have been blessed of late with some very delightful energy, an energy that I truly appreciate and have such sweet feelings for, yet, quite simply, I can not keep up. Not only that, I really don’t like to follow rules.
You see, I have received blog awards from my fellow bloggers and I would now like to publicly thank them and offer them honor in return. So, thank you:
Blossoming Tree Bodycare at http://blossomingtree.blogspot.com/
Casbah Kitten at http://casbahkitten.blogspot.com/
Rocki’s Rockin’ Blog at http://rockisrocknbeads.blogspot.com/ for the honor here and at our collective blog, When Weeds Whisper!
So visit their blogs and leave them some love! And I do feel like I’m missing someone, and if I am, I'll make it right! In any event, this rule-breaking-anarchist is truly, truly, truly thankful for the recognition, but I’m simply not following the rules. Because I can.
:)
More later . . .
Win a Whimsy Wednesday!
Tempus fugit! It's Wednesday again! Truly, that hit me only moments ago with quite a jolt! And I thought . . . whatever will I give away?
Well, this week it will be the little B&W ACEO drawing that served as seed for my "Life in Bloom" tri-series - all three available at my Etsy shop. I love making these little pieces of art though I can already feel my ambition expanding. Anyway . . .
You know the drill . . . and if not, here it is: Just leave a comment to this post - any comment - and you'll be entered to win this week's whimsy.  The winner will be drawn and announced tomorrow morning.
