Color

Along with other morning journaling, I added more color to my life by revisiting old doodles in one of my art journals.

A little bit of whimsy and color makes for "Good Medicine," methinks.

That's what I made today. Peace.

Love in the Kitchen

Today was a kitchen day … the kind that involved creating a simple meal to share with a friend. The kind of day to catch up, share, discuss, agree, disagree and love. My best friends are the kind of folks who stand firm in their experience and views of life, and express them, and listen too, even when they're different from my own experiences and life views. I'd rather hang with folks who stand in their truth, than those who bend to the point of breaking in order to be (perceived as) accepted. Know what I mean?

So, yeah, I had a lovely friend over for a light lunch, a little soup and salad (though I forgot to put the chicken in the salad ::sheesh::). In just a couple of hours we discussed what was going on in our lives, art, crochet, politics, religion, and even love. It rOcKeD my day!

Investing time like this, nurturing friendship, nourished me as much as the food we shared. In any event, it seemed only fitting that I add color to this journal page that I doodled one early morning last November, while hanging in a cousin's kitchen, sipping coffee, waiting for folks to wake up.

That's what I made today.

"Arting"

Today I was "arting." In addition to starting my "official" Book of Days, I went through more of that art journal I mentioned the other day and added more color to the summer drawings there. Nothing fancy, just good Medicine.

I'll be doing more with that right-handed page, but I was inspired to use up the green that I'd mixed.

Don't waste paint. Paint is good.

I wonder what I'll add to that page?

That's what I made today.

Peace.

Art and Seed Connections

Today we put the new cold frame that The Boy made out on the deck. I put my onions out for a bit to begin their acclimation to the cooler temps that they prefer. I ran a couple errands that included picking up some seed starting medium so I can start the brassicas tomorrow.

Once home, I joined Effy online for a little creative live streaming "Book of Days" fun, and enjoy the artful community. As I watched and listened, I paged through a journal that had drawings from last summer. With plants and seeds and soil on my mind … and art in my heart, I added color and interest to an image I captured at a ::sigh:: summer farmers' market last season.

That's what I made today.

Peace.

A Page for Integrity

Today I continued on one of those pages I prepped yesterday and created an expression of integrity

… using a favored expression of my own when discussing the topic.

To me, it's that simple. That's what I made today.

Peace.

Three Art Journal Pages Prepped

After tending to practical matters early in the day, I was inspired to get out the paints and inks and other assorted art materials and prepared three art journal pages.

I like to work in multiple journals at one time so that I don't waste any paint. I mix my own colors and prefer to use all that I mix. Mama Earth appreciates that. I wonder where I'll take these pages from here? Or where they will take me?

That's what I made today.

Peace.

More Mini Journals

There's a part of me that wants to ask for your blessing and beg for your forgiveness for this long overdue blog post.

… must be tied to an aspect of my upbringing …

Yet there's another part of me that wonders why?

February has proven to be a very busy and productive month and I expect that trend to continue. Accelerate, even. I've reorganized my time so that I'm online less and while that has distinct benefits, I realize I can't leave my blog fallow for quite so long.

I reflect back to a time when I was posting every day … and I wonder how I did that? But the wondering evolves into the realization that posting a daily update takes mere minutes and it's up to me how I choose to invest those minutes. I'll be more diligent, I promise, but daily posts are likely a thing of the past (especially with spring around the corner and seeds to start, gardens to tend, food to grow, harvests to preserve!).

All that aside, I've created some new mini journals these past couple of weeks, as you can see. I have more completed, not pictured here, and more still in process. Creating these little pieces functional art is truly an act of health and wellness for me, a practice of expressive Medicine. And because I'm loathe to waste paint (and pollute the mama) I create ACEOs and art journal pages as I make these journals. It's a joy, really!

So today I got a few listed in my ArtFire and my Zibbet shops and will be listing more over the coming days. I hope you'll stop by to take a closer look as well as watch for the new listings as they get up.

So … that's what I made today. How 'bout you?

Peace.

ACEOs & Onions

Today I finished up some ACEOs that I've been working on for a while and got most of them listed in my ArtFire studio and Zibbet shop. I still have a few more to get to, but one thing at a time.

I got a flat of onion seeds started, which feels so good. I'm anxious to start more seeds, but it's still early, so patience will be my companion while I dream of spring and nurse my "Bianca di Maggio" and "Yellow Parma" babies.

As for now, I have dinner to think about and then some hookin' to enjoy!

Peace.
