Creamy Self Care

My mom's birthday is coming up and she requested another pot of the balm I make for her footsies. She also requested another pot of skin cream. She uses the cream on her face and loves it. So today, after errands, I got these things made for her ... and for me too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ... one of the best parts of making cream is slathering the blender remains all over my body after a nice shower. It's such a deliciously decedent practice of self care ... and well deserved, if I do say so myself.

That's what I made today. Peace.

Oooo.. it sounds heavenly! My feet are cracked too - especially in the winter. Nothing ever quite works well enough. I wonder....

How awesome you take such good care of your mom! I hope my kids do that when I need them to do stuff for me.

Thanks everyone ~ I do so love your comments!

Eva ~ I'm sure there's someone right around you that could make a nice infused oil with which make you a nice healing foot balm. ;)

Tyler, I often joke that if push ever came to shove we *could* use my balms in cooking! :D

alessandra ~ You sure can! Chances are there's an herbalist in your community more than willing to teach you (we're everywhere!).

That blender picture is a creation in itself. It took me about a minute to fully realize what it was and the angle from which you shot it. I'm in a cafe right now, and it totally beats some of the shots up on the walls for sale here! So, cream and modern art - good day for creating!

Anonymous ~ I share my specific technique and proportions with my students. As I shared here in the blog comments, chances are there's an herbalist in your community more than willing to teach you (we're everywhere!).

Other than that, I can tell you that I've adapted Rosemary Gladstar's recipe and use my own infused oils for the oil-base ... in this care, Calendula for the cream and (mostly) Chickweed for the balm, both made last summer.
