Love on Sunday
I made a pot of truly awesome turkey-n-dumplings. I made two more loaves of amazing bread - wheat, oatmeal and flaxseed. I made more thank you cards. I made more holiday cards. I made art in my art journals. I made art on glass bottles. And ... I made a soap sack ...

Love that soap sack!! I've been working my way through some soap samples (supposedly to decide which one to buy...but I love them all!) and a soap sack would be great to corral the tiny slivers.
You've certainly had a busy Sunday!
Awesome - what a pretty soap sack. I've been saving my slivers with the thought to melt them down into a new bar. I like your way much better.
Oh no, sweet, silly Annie ... this is cotton ... so I can use it as a soap-filled sponge of sorts!

Seems to me that I read in a post of yours, way back, that when straining for example arnica infused olive oil. You do not squeeze the flowers, you simply let it drip. Is this true? If I were to squeeze the last part I suppose I get more plant juices, is that what makes it ferment? Just strained some today, this is why I ask.

Tammie ... yes - I just let it drip with no squeezing. Squeezing may release water trapped in the plant matter and water in oil will facilitate mold growth. So, no squeezing for the oil to be stored.
But don't waste the oil trapped in the plant matter! Squeeze it in a separate vessel for "immediate" use. I often use these "dregs" to slather over my entire body after a shower. The squeezed oil gets used up long before mold ever becomes a possibility.

One more question...
If there is mold on top of an herb infused in oil..... do I have to throw it out? Can I scrap off the top layer? My sense is the mold has roots that wander through out, not sure though.
I have it on some comfrey oil and prunella.

I have removed small specks of mold off the top of processing oils with good results ... but I watch my oils like a hawk when they are macerating.
Bottom line (from all these miles away) - trust your intuition. If your intuition is mute or misty, err on the side of caution and offer your batches to the compost divas and start fresh next year.
